"Issues of World War III" Survey

"How should Jews and Hasidic Gentiles deal with the New Year holiday of January 1st?" Given that orthodox Jews and Hasidic Gentiles constitute a large percentage of our readers (though probably not a majority), it's not too surprising that most respondents opted for abolishing the New Year's Day celebration. But there were a couple of notable exceptions; one was apparently totally in favor of the celebration, while the other argued that, while we ourselves shouldn't celebrate the day, we should in any case be allowed to wish Christians a "happy New Year." We don't have space for all the extra comments made by readers, but here are some excerpts:

Factual Background:
Beginning thousands of years before Christianity, pagan cults centered much of their worship around the winter solstice (approximately December 21st), the shortest day of the year and when the sun reached the furthest, most southern arc in the sky before resuming its northward drift toward summer. Pre-Muslim, Arab moon-worshippers celebrated December 24th as the rebirth of the "moon god"; Babylonians, Romans, Anglo-Saxons, Druids, and other ancient peoples celebrated various versions of the "Festival of the Unconquered Sun" (also "Saturnalia," in honor of the Roman god Saturn) in honor of their "sun-god" on December 25th, beginning a week-long festival of drunken revelry and immorality. All this was timed a few days after the winter solstice, as the days began to become longer and the sun began moving northward.

The night of December 24th was therefore observed as the night of the mother of the man-god, who was born the following day as the human incarnation of the "sun-god" (thus the son of the sun-god, who was to bring salvation to the world). In the early Anglo-Saxon language, this was known as the "Yule" and featured trees decorated with candles, wreaths, and mistletoe. The Romans worshipped a fir tree for the festival, the Egyptians a palm tree. In both cases, the tree represented the "man-god's" birth.

At the end of the week of drunken festivities (sort of a "Mardi gras"), many of those pagan societies began their new year with their "New Year's Day" to conclude the festival and inaugurate the rising of the "sun-god."

Christianity did not have a December 25th holiday of any kind, nor was X-mas celebrated on some other day, until the fourth century, when the Roman Church formally adopted the old Babylonian, Roman, and Egyptian festivals and instituted them in honor of their man-god, Jesus. But the ancient, pagan "New Year" was not adopted by the Roman Church (and subsequently in Protestant nations) until the sixteenth century, under the establishment of the Gregorian calendar used today (the previous new years were inaugurated in late March).

Obviously, the pre-Christian customs of the ancient pagans have been preserved to the present day, including trees, lights, gift-giving, and drunken partying on "New Year's Eve." Most Christians have no idea what they're celebrating, but it's idolatrous nonetheless.

Relevant Torah Principles:
1) Even outside the land of Israel (where the rules are stricter), Jews are forbidden not only from participating in celebrations of pagan holidays or festivals, but also from doing business with the pagans on their festival day, and even from greeting them (i.e., to say "hello").

2) According to Maimonides and other leading rabbinical sources, these prohibitions on pagan festivals and their celebrants apply equally to gentiles under the Noahide Laws.

3) Maimonides officially ruled in his Mishneh Torah (Laws of Idolatry 9:4) that Christianity is, indeed, a form of idolatry, and that Christians are idol-worshippers. No leading sage has ever disagreed with this ruling. Thus any Christian holiday is automatically considered a pagan festival, and Maimonides includes every Sunday as a weekly Christian, pagan festival whose Christian-related activities must be avoided by Jews (and Hasidic Gentiles). This applies all the more to X-mas, Easter, New Year's Day, Valentine's Day, Halloween, and other pre-Christian pagan festivals, even if the Christians celebrating those holidays don't realize their significance.

4) Moreoever, gentiles are strictly prohibited from establishing any holiday of religious significance, even if it has no connection to pagan traditions; gentiles who celebrate any such non-Torah religious holiday are deserving of death by the Hand of G-d (Maimonides, Mishneh Torah, Laws of Kings 10:9). "New Year's Day" clearly has such religious connotations and symbolism, even if it wouldn't have had ancient, pagan origins.

5) However, there is no prohibition on recognizing or utilizing non-Jewish calendars for practical purposes. This could include the modern Gregorian calendar, the Julian calendar, the Muslim calendar, the tax-year calendar, the school-year calendar (usually beginning in September), etc. The calendar, as such, has no real religious significance, as opposed to pagan holidays that may be observed. It's one thing to start an accounting or legal year on January 1st; it's quite another to celebrate January 1st as a holiday.

6) The Christian calendar is strictly solar, according to sun's cycle (365 1/4 days), with "months" being nothing more than one twelfth of the solar year but having no connection to the moon; the Muslim calendar is strictly lunar, its months being precisely coordinated to the cycle of the moon but its "year" being nothing more than twelve lunar months (and thus about eleven days short of a solar year). The ancient Jewish calendar reconciles the solar and lunar cycles, having years of twelve lunar months and leap years of thirteen lunar months, with the average being equal to the solar year. For religious, Torah purposes (for both Jews and Hasidic Gentiles), the Jewish calendar is the basis for all obvervances and festivals. But for certain other practical purposes, the Gregorian solar calendar may be more useful.

7) The Jewish New Year, Rosh Hashanah (celebrated at varying times during September), is the universal day of judgment on all mankind, including gentiles, and is the actual (spiritual) beginning of the year for everyone. Thus gentiles, too, should observe Rosh Hashanah in certain respects, including repentance, prayer, and charitable contributions on that day. This is the only legitimate "New Year's Day" for anyone.

The Noahide Laws already prohibit observance of pagan festivals by gentiles, so there's no question the January 1st "New Year's" celebrations must go. At the same time, Noahide courts would apparently not enforce this (being as it would carry no death penalty in human courts, only from G-d directly). But some rituals of the season, such as erecting X-mas trees, may, in fact, constitute actual idol worship and may be enforceable.

It is therefore incumbent on Jews and Hasidic Gentiles everywhere to educate gentiles about the nature of these days and their prohibition under Torah, to phase out their observance. Future Noahide governments may also add further laws to stamp out pagan festivals, if needed. But with the coming of the Messianic Era, gentiles won't want to continue celebrating such ugly traditions.

Indeed, many Christians today are already rejecting the celebrations of X-mas, Easter, Halloween, etc. exactly on the basis of their pre-Christian, pagan origins. It is our job now to accelerate this trend through education — and by teaching gentiles about Rosh Hashanah, Hanukkah, Purim, and other days appropriate for their observance instead.

North Korea and Iran are both developing nuclear weapons and are testing (and sharing) missile technology to deliver nuclear warheads. Aside from the question of dealing with the regimes themselves, what can we do to protect against nuclear missile strikes?

(1) Renew research into the Strategic Defense Initiative (SDI) for new, high-tech anti-missile systems.
(2) Deploy the older-technology, lower-cost High Frontier system for countering ballistic missiles.
(3) Don't deploy any anti-missile defense system; it would only provoke an attack.

Infiltrators at Arutz-Sheva — Tamar Yonah, Part 2

The "cadre" of the underground Communist apparatus, whose job it is to infiltrate leadership positions as well as the rank-and-file of ordinary people throughout society, have heavily penetrated and taken over the "right wing" in all countries, including Israel. That's the secret behind the right wing's bizarre paralysis as World War III rapidly approaches.

Radio-show host Tamar Yonah, of the Israeli "right wing" Arutz-Sheva ("Channel 7") media group, is a typical example of how such infiltrators can wreak havoc with the popular tide to the right. She subtly undermines and confuses people's thinking while bringing yet more Communist influence into the movement:

Tamar Yonah and Arutz-Sheva as a whole have taken the leading role in promoting the Moscow-controlled, phony "Sanhedrin" and the Communist-front Root & Branch Association closely affiliated with it. So it wasn't the least bit surprising that she stepped in to do damage control last spring, when the exposure and rising controversy regarding subversive influences at the "Sanhedrin" began tearing it apart.

One of the most damaging blows to the bogus "Sanhedrin" was the resignation of two of its leading rabbis, including Rabbi Moshe (Marvin) Antelman, over Root & Branch influence. Out of the blue, in June of last year, Yonah tried to bring Rabbi Antelman back under R & B control by the most flattering act of interviewing him on her show.

The very fact that she hadn't been interviewing him in past years (nor did anyone else at Arutz-Sheva) itself betrays her real agenda. Rabbi Antelman has for decades been one of the leading spokesman of the Jewish right wing, both in America and Israel; by all logic, he should have been a frequent, if not constant, guest on Arutz-Sheva programs.

But he wasn't invited on until he publicly denouned R & B influence at the "Sanhedrin." And even then, Yonah was careful not to interview Rabbi Antelman about R & B or the "Sanhedrin," but rather about Fabian Socialist influences in left-wing institutions (i.e., nothing that might betray subversion in right-wing organizations). Moreover, the subject of Fabian Socialism isn't something that Arutz-Sheva, or Yonah, normally cover (that alone should tell you something). So the single interview had little effect on the audience, which knew little about the subject, but was intended to have a much bigger influence on Rabbi Antelman himself — hoping to make him trust Arutz-Sheva and to rope him back under the influence of such R & B agents as Barry Chamish, several of whom have surrounded Rabbi Antelman for years. And, of course, to begin thawing relations between Rabbi Antelman and the Communist-front "Sanhedrin."

Tamar Yonah and her comrades haven't succeeded in drawing Rabbi Antelman back into the "Sanhedrin," but by the same token, the rabbi hasn't yet been willing to purge his inner circle of such cadre; he continues to be plagued by wishful thinking that Communist agents would never surround him. But sooner or later, he'll have to make a clear and total decision one way or the other.

(Note: The underground Communist apparatus and its aboveground tentacles are actively engaged in subversion in all sectors and institutions of society today. Its agents would dearly love to know the full extent of our information, which would assist their disinformation efforts. Consequently, we do not divulge all our facts or sources. These profiles are intended only as a warning to the wise to monitor the individuals and groups exposed here, and to avoid their influence.)

Terrorism Update:

Summary of PLO-related terror attacks these last two weeks, Wednesday (December 27) through Tuesday (January 9): Traitors in high places in America and Israel continue stepping up their open aid, financial and military, to the PLO, using the half-baked excuse that the PLO is allegedly fighting a few minor battles with Hamas. Most of that fighting can't be independently confirmed; the reports are coming from the PLO and Hamas themselves, neither of which terror group has been particularly noted for honesty, and in any case, the PLO does fund Hamas to the tune of tens of millions of dollars a year (most of it straight from the pocket of the American taxpayer). So it isn't likely the PLO and its close Hamas ally are really doing much "fighting" at all, but you can be certain they're busy coordinating their lies about "street battles" that, even according to their faked or exaggerated reports, are not very big.

Nevertheless, the Bush Administration just managed to wrangle congressional approval of yet another $86.4 million (on top of the $1 billion already being sent annually) directly to the murderers under the command of PLO chief Mahmoud Abbas. Israeli Prime Traitor Olmert announced another $100 million to add to that total. Communist Egypt escorted a shipment of $20 million into Gaza for Hamas (probably from U.S. foreign aid to Egypt, but they didn't admit that), and shipped 2,000 Soviet Russian assault rifles and 2,000,000 rounds of ammunition directly to the PLO — with Bush Administration approval (it was, of course, financed by the U.S. taxpayer and supplied by Soviet Russia) and escorted by Israeli soldiers, to boot!

Hamas and the PLO-controlled Popular Resistance Committees (PRC) wasted no time in publicly announcing that plenty of that money, and those guns and bullets, would immediately be handed over to Hamas and the PRC by the PLO, as usual (PLO money and guns continue to be provided in a steady flow to Hamas). In fact, sources in both the PLO and Hamas publicly admitted, even while they claim to be "fighting" one another, that top units of the PLO — including its elite Force 17 and its Al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades — are actually working together with Hamas, not fighting it.

Bush and Olmert handily ignored all these pronouncements and kept pressing for more aid to the PLO.

To show its appreciation of the rising American aid, a top official of the PLO's Fatah group, Abu Ali Shahin, announced on behalf of the PLO that "We are fighting the Americans and hate the Americans more than [Usama bin Laden does]!" Again, Bush and Olmert looked the other way, with Bush declaring he intends to create a PLO state within the next two years.

Even as the new aid was being handed over to the PLO, its units were actively carrying out terrorist assaults. Israeli soldiers found themselves in raging gun battles with members of the PLO's main Fatah group, supported by the PLO-domination and -armed PRC. More gun battles were fought by members of the Fatah Tanzim militia against Israeli troops, and the same Tanzim group was caught — just in time — about to send Arab teenagers on two suicide bombings.

No, Bush and Olmert didn't say one word about all this.

Nor did they protest the injuring of an Arab by PLO-connected rock throwers, nor the murder of a palestinian Arab woman by PLO and Hamas gunmen (who may have injured several more Arab civilians). When PLO-supported terrorists also threw rocks at a foreign diplomatic car, damaging it, Bush remained silent. Ditto when PLO-sponsored terrorists (PLO officials hinted it was their own people who did it) kidnapped a Peruvian journalist in the Gaza Strip.

But then, if Bush doesn't mind the PLO "fighting the Americans," why would it bother him that they terrorize and murder Arabs and other non-Israelis? Or that they injured another nine Israeli Jews and damaged numerous homes, building, and cars these last two weeks?

Meanwhile, the PLO-coordinated Islamic Jihad (which doesn't even pretend to be "fighting" the PLO) officially took credit for firing many of the Kassam missiles these last two weeks, as well as some new longer-range, higher-powered Quds-3 rockets modeled on technology from Soviet Russian Grad and Katyusha missiles. The PLO funds and directs the Islamic Jihad, and anyway many of those missiles may have been fired by the PLO itself using the Islamic Jihad name.

The treason of Bush and Olmert, and their cabinets, depends entirley on your silence and apathy. As soon as you raise your voice against PLO funding, the terrorists' days will be numbered. Letters to the Editor

(Part 5 of a letter with several questions regarding Hasidic Gentile religious observance):
"…May Noachide Chassids keep kosher?…" — LW.

Our response: Jewish Law regulates which foods may be eaten by a Jew and how they must be prepared. This entails many thousands of laws and details, covering everything from which animals, birds, and fish are kosher to how to properly slaughter them (so as not to render them un-kosher), inspecting fruits and vegetables to eliminate even tiny insects, keeping grape juice and wine away from the possibility of being secretly consecrated for idolatrous use, never mixing or eating milk and meat products together, and many, many other things.

Only one of these numerous rules applies to gentiles under the minimum Noahide Law: not to eat a limb or flesh removed from a living animal (even if the animal is dead by the time a person eats the torn flesh). This is one of the Seven Noahide Laws, and it does have various details and implications — including that the animal must stop twitching completely after death before any flesh may be removed for consumption. (This could present a problem for some meat available in grocery stores, where there may be a question of whether the meat was cut only after the animal's twitching had completely stopped.)

However, this rule does not prohibit flesh from a living bird or fish, nor does it prohibit blood taken from a living animal (not being considered "flesh").

That's purely the bare minimum of the Noahide Laws. But it's also appropriate to go well beyond the required minimum wherever possible. Let's face it: In modern times, gentile society no longer accepts the idea of eating a live bird, nor of drinking blood from an animal.

Under the Noahide Laws, a gentile is also allowed to observe additional commandments from Jewish Law for reward from G-d (albeit with certain prohibited exceptions). In some cases it's even encouraged.

The Talmud does mention (I don't have the source in front of me at the time of writing) that when the Messiah comes, those gentiles who avoided eating unkosher animals (e.g., pigs, ostriches, clams, oysters, shrimps, crabs, lobsters, catfish, etc.) will be able to claim their Heavenly reward, even though they weren't required to follow such rules. This principle easily extends to virtually all Jewish kosher laws.

For nearly fourteen centuries, Muslims have already been practicing a number of the Jewish kosher rules, under the Arabic term "halal." They only eat kosher animals, they imitate Jewish standards of slaughtering (though it wouldn't qualify for a Jew to eat, but it still implements much of the Jewish standard), never mixing milk and meat products, etc. Unquestionably, Muslims who follow halal standards will receive a Divine reward for doing so.

It's one thing for impoverished peoples in the Third World, for whom famine is a real, everyday issue (and who live in pagan, primitive, spiritually dark cultures), to eat pork, shrimp, and other cheap, easily available foods. But in a modern, industrial society, everyone is wealthy enough to afford kosher meat and fish (beef, chicken, turkey, regular fish, etc.). Kosher animals, and kosher foods in general, are more appropriate for more spiritually refined people.

So in our humble opinion, it's entirely appropriate for Americans and Europeans to follow at least some basic kosher rules not required under the Noahide Laws, starting especially with (a) kosher animals, birds, and fish, (b) kosher grape juice and wine, and (c) absolute separation of milk and meat products. These would be the most important to start with. One advantage of doing so is that kosher supervision removes any risk of the meat being in the status of flesh from a living animal.

Furthermore, it's worth keeping in mind that, in the Messianic Era (coming up in the next few years, at most), gentiles will be elevated to stricter rules, and thereafter will be required to follow most kosher laws anyway.
